April 8, 2025 at 6:08 amHi all,
I need some legal advice regarding a consumer issue with Acer India.I own an **Acer Nitro V15-41** and want to upgrade the **RAM and SSD**, which are clearly **user-replaceable components**. However, Acer India has stated that if I upgrade them myself, **my warranty will be voided**.
They are asking me to travel **160 km (round trip)** to the nearest authorized service center and **pay a service charge** just to upgrade these components—something I am technically capable of doing myself without causing any damage.
As per the **Consumer Protection Act, 2019**, I believe this is an unfair restriction. The law supports the **right to repair**, and warranties cannot be voided simply for self-upgrading if no damage occurs.
Can someone guide me on:
* How to **file a complaint** against Acer India?
* Whether this qualifies for **consumer court** or can be resolved via the **National Consumer Helpline**?
* Any legal references or previous similar cases?Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

April 8, 2025 at 6:27 amYou just add RAM and use it, but if any problem arises in the future to your PC, while going to the service center, take your lap with the RAM, that was given with the PC.-

April 8, 2025 at 6:41 am-You just book an onsite service to your laptop, saying some reason, like laptop is not booting sometimes.-Then the service people will come to your home, ask them to check for any loose fittings in Ram modules etc,.
-Then they will break open the seal to check internal components.
-Then they will say nothing is abnormal.
-Let them go.
-Then do whatever you want to.
-Next time you visit the service centre(if required) and they ask you, why the seal is broken, you can say that company people only has broken the seal to check components, you have no problem since the ticket is registered.-
