I ordered a OnePlus Nord 4 CE and DJI phone gimbals from Amazon. My mother had received the package and she is old so she had called asking for OTP. I gave it to her and told her to check if serial number matched (given on Amazon) which it did. When I came home, there was no phone and only gimbal in the concealed package. I have raised this with Amazon and they’re saying they will investigate. However, I don’t trust them much given their recent fiascos.
What are my recourses against them ? Willing to hire a lawyer to pursue this against Amazon. Please be considerate while quoting fees as phone value is Rs 24,000. It was supposed to be a birthday gift for my mom.

SSeconded. Everyone’s so engrossed in trying to find a legal way for this even before trying to sort things out in other ways. People don’t seem to understand how draining it is to involve yourself in a case.
Also OP, no one in the sub is gonna be representing you in court. So asking us to be considerate while quoting fees doesn’t make sense. Each lawyer charges differently. Some are good. Some are shit. Some overcharge. Some undercharge. The fees you pay depend on what kind of lawyer you intend to hire.

WI understand the OP’s feelings since Amazon isn’t trustworthy anymore. The minute you hear “investigate” you should be ready to take steps. They do not share any information on said “investigation” at all. They will come to whatever conclusion and give you a unilateral verdict. Nothing to support their conclusion either, no information on how it got there, no information on what they investigated, NOTHING. Once the back end team gives a verdict on their “investigation” nobody from amazon will help you. You may escalate as much as you wish with them, but you’ll get NO recourse whatsoever. OP, please document everything and be ready to go legal as soon as Amazon tells you their conclusion. Only once when I reported within 10 minutes of getting the package & showed them multiple proofs of item arriving open did they come back with a positive response on their “investigation”.

Your legal recourse would be
1. Filing an grievance with Amazon
2. Filing a case with consumer forumFor a phone worth 24k going to consumer forum should be your last resort.
Follow up with them. Escalate on social media.
You could also report the same to your bank if payment is made online and state the product was not received.
Find out the email id or twitter handle of some folks in Amazon and write to them on twitter.
Social media may be better than going to the consumer forum.

Check with local delivery hub with the serial number you might find delivery personAnd i have seen couple of guys claiming to lawyer who are not actually scamming some people on reddit so be aware
Rather than pursuing with the legal case try these methods its easier and faster to solve also dont be a angry mood while asking in the delivery hub
Check surrounding cctvs if possible
Once confirmed its that delivery person who stole and not ready to give back then u can file a police complaint -
