        Hi all,

Iโ€™m seeking legal advice regarding a situation where someone doxxed me and made concerning statements online.

A user on Reddit posted my personal information without consent (doxxing) from an alt. He later deleted the messages, but it happened.

He also made posts wishing harm on exes, saying things like โ€œkarma will take care of them.โ€

He told me he would โ€œfind me anywhereโ€ which I perceive as a direct threat.

The subreddit mods are aware but say they need clear proof before banning him.

I think because of his visa and university he has been extra careful and not kept those posts. And has also edited certain comments.

Iโ€™m considering my legal options and would appreciate guidance on:

        1. Reporting to his university (I know where he studies and I know his name, and his account has evidence connecting him to the university.)

Would they take action on this? And if I do report, should it be anonymous or from my real id, if it’s the latter they might take it more seriously but I am hesitant because of this user’s vengeful nature. What if he retaliates?

        2. Filing a legal complaint (Iโ€™m in India but he is in New Zealand) can I pursue this under cyber laws?

        3. Other steps to protect myself and hold him accountable.

I have saved screenshots of his harmful posts which show he has a revengeful mindset (not the deleted doxxing message, but his pattern of behavior).

Can someone help me with this? Iโ€™d really appreciate any legal guidance or next steps I can take.

I don’t want to be another woman thinking about online safety and feeling helpless and unable to do anything about it.

        Thanks in advance!

Since you are women, visit nearest police station and file FIR for stalking.

Don’t mention reddit. Cops won’t take you seriously. Just tell them he is stalking you from different social media accounts online.

How did he know your reddit account?

            1. Maybe or may not be.

            2. Nothing will come out of it.

            3. Report to authorities where he resides.
