Hi everyone, I need some advice regarding a motor accident case. The accident happened on November 10, 2023. A biker suddenly came into my lane from the other side without any caution and hit my car. He got injured in the accident and left the scene afterwards. Even my car was heavily damaged in the accident. At that time, my friend who was inside the car also gave a statement supporting my side of the incident.

Now, after almost 2 years, I suddenly received a call from the post office saying there is a letter from the Transport Department regarding this case. I have not collected the letter yet, so Iโ€™m confused about what it could be. My lawyer told me that since there is no solid proof like dashcam footage and some eyewitnesses apparently gave statements against me, it may be better to just pay around โ‚น2500 as a fine/settlement and close the matter. He also mentioned that the insurance company may handle the rest.

My car had valid insurance at the time. I want to understand:

        – What could this letter from the Transport Department actually be?

        – Can insurance still handle compensation if the biker was actually at fault?

        – Why would I still need to pay anything personally?

        – Is it normal for such notices to come after almost 2 years?

Would appreciate advice from anyone familiar with accident claims, transport notices, or insurance-related cases.
