May 5, 2025 at 6:07 pmSo I too a loan for my car from mahindra finance and I’ve paid all emis by last year. Suddenly there’ve been communications from them asking for a payment of 1845 Rs. but they have not mentioned payment for what. Also, customer care is not reachable and they are not replying to emails. It’s been just a couple of days and they have gone from sending messages to sending a notice. I am willing to pay mahindra once I know what the payment demand is for. My question is can they get me arrested for this?

May 5, 2025 at 8:03 pmNo, but they can fuck up your CIBIL for non payment. Drop them an email and wait for 30 days. If you receive no response, raise a complaint with RBI.Do you have NOC for the auto loan you closed?

May 6, 2025 at 7:04 amUnfortunately I don’t have the NOC. They have finally responded and are working to close things. I’ll make sure to get the NOC now. Thanks for your help.-

May 7, 2025 at 4:16 pmHi, I just wanted to ask one follow-up question. They are saying that their system accidentally sent cheques to the bank for the last 4 EMIs (even though they were timely paid online) and this amount is the bouncing charge. I told them in that case it’s their fault, why should we pay and they replied since system is showing, we need to pay. My question was is there something I can do here or do I really need to pay?-

May 7, 2025 at 4:31 pmNo, you don’t need to pay a dime. Tell them they need to close your loan account immediately. And also the cheque bounce would have ducked your CIBIL to hell and back. So, tell them that they need to correct your CIBIL and other credit agencies report immediately.(You download and keep the CIBIL report, Equifax and Experian reports for your reference).
Inform them this needs to be done within 15 days, otherwise you’ll be taking legal action. In the meantime, you keep all the transactions that you’ve made for repayment handy. So not pay a single penny, if you have repaid the whole amount. Their incompetence is not your problem.
Ask them to send every communication in e-mail, even the one where they said that their system made an error by sending the cheques inspire of you making all the timely payments.
And you also keep the communication with them from now on in e-mails. If they don’t resolve this within 15 days, contact a lawyer and send them a l gal notice. Should not cost you more than han 2k. Please follow this up with a lot of care and get it corrected. Otherwise, you will not get q single loan from any banks or NBFCs in the future.-

May 7, 2025 at 4:59 pmThanks for your help again. CIBIL is 750 right now but I guess it should’ve been higher given that I had paid the whole amount in a timely manner. Will respond to them appropriately like you’ve mentioned here.-

May 7, 2025 at 5:20 pm750 is not a bad score. Just check for any overdues. Make sure you have the latest report with you.Either way, make sure you mention that this whole situation should not affect your CIBIL in any way.
And do not pay them a single penny. Urgent them to resolve this from their end before you go for legal remedies.
Good luck!
