Maternity benefit applies to private school teacher?

Hi everyone.

As the title goes, does the maternity benefit act apply to teachers working in private schools? School is refusing to give 6 months with full pay. Saying they will give only 3 months with 50% pay.

That’s illegal. Maternity leaves are available to all private employees
