January 13, 2025 at 1:56 pmHi,
I have a question regarding the name discrepancy of my mother across my academic and official documents. On my 10th and 12th marksheets, her name is written as “Sarita Devi,” whereas on my university marksheet, it is written as “Sarita” (without “Devi”).I am planning to apply for a passport soon, and Iโm concerned if this minor difference in the spelling/format of her name could create any problems during the application process.
Should I be worried about this, or is it something that can be easily clarified or corrected? Would an affidavit or other documentation be needed to resolve this issue?
I would appreciate any advice or guidance on how to handle this situation.
Thank you!(sorry i use chatgpt for writing this my english is weak)

January 13, 2025 at 2:37 pmThis seems like general advice.Your 10th marksheet shall be of utmost priority, fill in your mother’s name as per the 10th marksheet.
If you are applying for further studies, the same MAY cause few difficulties, otherwise, you’ll face no problems. Ask the authority before any advancements you make, sometimes an affidavit works.
This is not an issue that has to be handled proactively, so no need to worry and rush.
By the way, changing names in the documents is a long and tiring process, especially for 10th and 12th. It is easier for universities comparatively.
