My company took original documents

I am working as an intern at an edtech company in Bangalore, while onboarding they asked for my original documents , luckily after an argument I only gave them my original driving license, but some my friends gave their 10th and 12th marksheets. Is it legal for a company to keep the orginal documents?

Tell HR if those original documents are not returned, you will file police complaint with his/her name on it. Only if you want your documents back instead of fooling around on social media.

Bro this happened all over india. I lived in Chandigarh many companies asked me to submit an original certificate, blank cheques but I never did even on bad days.

so they can delay the eventual exit of people from company. get it to say you need to send frame it or laminate it etc. and then give colored laminated copies to them. those baffoons stay happy thinking they got you.

Color copy the original documents, laminate the color copy, and keep it. Give this laminated color copy of someone asks for original , worked for me for college

Nah but thats how they keep a hold on you.

It’s easier to teach morals or ethics to others like not to give documents but people will never understand that how it’s so hard to find a job and keep it. Hence, you do anything and everything to keep that one job.

No its not required for any company to keep any documents related to your education or id. They can validate your originals to confirm that it matches what you stated when applying.

Thats bullshit. How can anyone demand original documents, its supposed to be just shown and taken back. Nowdays high grade color copy/ laminated are done by photocopy shops for nominal rates. Just hand these over.
