TI’m renewing my moms passport and her name let’s say
‘Sangita’ and my dads name ‘Sanjay’ is apparently written as “Sangitaben SanjayKumar Patel” and her Adhaar card name is “Sangitaben Sanjaybhai Patel” and her prev passport apparently has same name as marriage certificate but everywhere else the nam is as per Adhaar card and I want to change it to Adhaar card would it be possible without change in marriage certificate?

Here’s what you can do .
Call their helpline number and explain the situation
Make a newspaper gazette with her previous (wrong name) as per passport and marriage certificate and new (correct name) as per Aadhaar and other docs assuming her other documents follow the same nomenclature as in aadhaar , also you can confirm with your local police station explain him the situation and ask whether he’s gonna accept the newspaper gazette for this correction ,And for double confirmation call the passport seva helpline and explain to them the scenario and ask whether without updating or anything the marriage certificate will the newspaper gazette suffice? If yes yay

VPassport office will issue new passport based on old passport. If you want to change name in the new passport, you will have to file for a name change application.
It doesn’t matter what’s on your aadhaar, your birth certificate, your marriage certificate. For passport office, name on old passport will continue on new one until you change name (it’s absurd, but it’s the only way)
I had to do exactly this.
My birth certificate has a Q. My first passport had a K. I tried to get it changed to a Q when I applied for new passport (not renew) because all my other docs had a Q. Passport office rejected my application during processing. A passport officer told me to get a name change done and apply again. Only then it came with a Q. -

For changing name in her passport, you will have to make an affidavit and give newspaper advertisement. Passport office accepts newspaper advertisements as proof of name change. Even if her marriage certificate mentions old name, passport office will accept that. As for police verification, most likely they will show it as a big issue and ask for bribe irrespective of you’re going forward with name change or not.
And gazette notification is accepted everywhere. But that is little more lengthy process along with costly. If u’re located in Delhi, you can think about it too
