February 2, 2025 at 5:35 pmMy wife and I have purchased a home in Gurgaon last year for which she is a co-borrower. The property is also registered on both of our names. The EMI deduction is Auti debited from my salary bank account. During the first 6 months, my entire salary was not sufficient for the EMI, and hence she contributed partly for the same. Come the next month, my salary has increased making it sufficient for the entire EMI deduction. Post that, my wife has stopped contributing to the EMI and when asked said that I donβt have any right on her salary. How can I tackle this situation legally? -

February 2, 2025 at 5:39 pmShould have discussed this big financial thing with your wife first. How much is your (your and you’re wife) budget, who will contribute how much. -

February 2, 2025 at 6:00 pmWhat’s wrong are you not sure about your marriage? You both can discuss and ask her to contribute more towards other expenses. So you take care of EMI. If there are serious trust issues then either open an joint account and pay emi from there so you both contribute to that account for family expense and EMI. Or else sell the house but then how rent will be managed.
Talk to your wife and take decision as we and not as I and you.
