I live in Bangalore and use the Massage Republic website. I got a call yesterday from a guy claiming to be a PSI from a nearby Police Station. He went on to say that he had detained two African nationals/women for prostitution and that my number was seen on their phone. He didn’t know any personal details about me, but knew that I had used Massage Republic to reach out to them. He also claimed to have a video footage of me entering the building where these women live. He asked me for my one month’s salary in order to not be added to the case. The amount had to be transferred to a “paan and beeda” shop. He said that there is grounds for me to be included in this case and arrested. He dared me to disconnect the call and “face the consequences”. As soon as he asked for money, I cut the call and checked his number on Truecaller, the name matches to what he said but the address is of Kolkata and the email id is a gmail id with a combination of random numbers and letters. The number is on WhatsApp and connected to a business account. Is this a scam or should I be worried?

Tell him you’ll pay him 1 rupee for not calling you back ever.

Or call him to meet at a medium crowded zone. Start beating him and break his front teeth and shive a pack of red hot chilli powder and keep slapping him till he feels like his head is on fire and is weeping sprinklers!

And just leave.

The above actions take 5-7 secs if not practised. 3-5 seconds if you did.

Not judging but next time that they call tell them yes after you called I went to police station and confessed yesterday and gave your number as you told that you’re from police station

Massage Republic has regular massage service listings among other services. What freaked me out was that he said the women claimed to have slept with me.

Also, great idea on what to do if there’s a next encounter!
