April 29, 2025 at 3:23 pmState: Madhya PradeshMy house help’s son, around 19-20 years old has been arrested for being involved in a fight. She says that her son was not involved in the fight and was simply present at the wrong place at the wrong time. There were no casualties in the fight, and no major injuries.
I should mention that her son was in custody for the same reason an year ago and was released after a few weeks. He does have a criminal record associated with him.
It has now been almost 4 months since he got arrested the second time. She says that his bail plea has been rejected twice citing that this was an “attempt to murder”. A lawyer is now demanding 40k and promised to get him released from jail. She doesn’t have this much money. We want to help and have offered 5k, but could there be any other way out for her? -

April 29, 2025 at 4:33 pmPlease ask her to apply for free legal aid through NALSA. Or find a lawyer through an NGO that can provide free or subsidised legal case. Please note, not to throw shade on the young man – but the “innocent bystander” excuse is the oldest in the book.
Add to it the previous charge, and it doesn’t look good for him.
An “attempt to murder” is a serious charge.
Please let the professionals (lawyers) handle it, and keep your involvement to a minimum.
