Hi Lawyers of Reddit.
Iโve a S25Ultra phone purchased via Samsung website in January 2025. The phone is IP68 resistant, I.e. it can withstand 1.5m of water till 30minutes.
However, I was taking some photos underwater in swimming pool and the phone stopped working immediately after I dipped it in the swimming pool (no salt water or pressurised water).
Since, the company promises IP68 rating, I feel like this is mis-advertising. And I want to go to consumer court to demand compensation for the phone.
Iโm freaking out since it costed 1.3 L, and with a baby on the way it seems a very big sudden expense.
What are my legal options? Can I go to consumer court to demand replacement and compensation? And how can I proceed with the same? Can someone please advise me.
Kindly advice.
Note – I initially faced faulty camera within 5 months of purchasing the phone which was replaced by Authorised Samsung Service Center. However, they did not provide any disclaimer that the phone should not be used in water after that.
