May 8, 2025 at 10:36 amI applied for my passport back in 2024 along with my sibling and father. Everything went smoothly until the police verification. They called me to the police station, and I submitted all the required documents, but the inspector kept nagging me about my mother’s LC not mentioning her place of birth (it just says “of village [village name]”). It’s worth noting that my mother doesn’t have a birth certificate as she was born at home and birth certificates weren’t issued back then or so I was told.
When I asked which other documents to submit, the officer told us to bring land records from my mother’s side to prove that she is Indian.
Unfortunately, that officer was transferred and I had to go through the same process again, only for the new officer to say that the land records wouldn’t work.
After my file was returned from the RPO, I went to the police station again to submit the documents. I told him that he hadn’t come previously for my sibling’s verification and had sent the file directly to the RPO.
He immediately changed the topic and asked whether I had received a call. I said no. Then he said he would come to my house and do “bandobast” there.
If this is a signal for chai paani which I don’t mind but why are they playing such long games?
Another way is making an alternative document which would work in place of a birth certificate. All I’ve found is something called as NABC or just register my mother’s birth back in her hometown but I have no idea how do it. For more context my mother is from West Bengal
I also checked their requirements and for those born after 3rd December 2004, specific criteria are listed. I may have fulfilled those.
