Need Help related to Demand Draft HDFC Bank

In 2021 December, For college fees I arranged a demand draft from HDFC Bank Bareilly, it was made from the account of an acquaintance. Now today my college guys are saying that the DD didn’t clear. And they are asking to visit the bank from which it was made and ask about it. Problem is the acquaintance is now not helping me(fraud ig) , can I find the status of the DD by visiting the bank , as I know the DD no. ?

Not Legal as of now but still a major problem for me , please help 😭
