April 26, 2025 at 8:57 amI booked a trip to Leh Ladakh via a travel company which is supposed to happen in the first half of May. I unfortunately happened to book it just a day before the Pahalgam incident and now I’m too scared to go on that trip. The travel company is not ready to refund and I’ve signed the terms and conditions which states that:1. If I cancel at this time (30 days before the tour commencement, I won’t get any refund)
2. If I choose to end up going somewhere else, they will treat it as a fresh booking which in turn will cancel my previous booking (which will trigger point 1)I have paid 1.5L for me and my mom in total and wouldn’t want to waste that money. I’m okay to not get a refund but just want to change the location of my trip so that I don’t have to worry about anything like what happened. Had this not happened, I would have definitely gone on this trip. I’ve dropped two emails to their corporate offices but haven’t heard anything yet. Also, I had to give our ID proofs but I have not used my original signature which is on my government IDs (because I don’t use my original signature anywhere except bank documents). I made this entire payment by credit card. We are going to the branch where I made the booking today but if they don’t budge, can I do something about it? Thanks in advance :’)

April 26, 2025 at 2:31 pmHi,I understand your concerns, and given the current situation in Kashmir, it would be advisable to take legal action. You might want to file a complaint with a consumer court and send the travel company a legal notice outlining the potential risks due to the ongoing tensions and possible conflict between India and Pakistan. Consulting a lawyer could guide you on seeking both a refund and compensation for any mental distress caused, including covering legal costs.
Best of luck,

April 26, 2025 at 6:11 pmI totally agree with the fellow lawyer here
You should consult a lawyer who deals in consumer matters and send a legal notice to them
I have handled such cases and yes it would take some time but things will be in ur favor
