UHi everyone,
I need assistance with a passport issue for my father. The problem is related to a name correction in his passport application. Here’s the situation:
* My father already has a passport, but it expired 5 years ago.
* He renewed his passport in 2009, and at that time, due to a misunderstanding, his name was recorded incorrectly. Specifically, his grandfather’s name (father’s father’s name) was included, resulting in a trimmed/abbreviated version of his actual name.
* Now, his old passport has a name that doesn’t match his Aadhaar card or other documents.We recently applied for a passport renewal and visited the Passport Seva Kendra with all the necessary documents for a name correction. However, the officer in charge put the application on hold and insisted that we update the name on his Aadhaar card to match the old passport.
While changing the name on the Aadhaar card is possible, it would create a ripple effect, as many other documents (bank accounts, property papers, etc.) are linked to the current name on his Aadhaar. This is the name we prefer to maintain, as it’s consistent across all other documents.
Our goal is to correct the name in the passport to match the Aadhaar card, rather than changing the Aadhaar card to match the old passport. Is there any way to achieve this? Has anyone faced a similar situation or have advice on how to resolve this issue?
