April 25, 2026 at 3:08 pmHi everyone, I’m in a really stressful situation and need some unbiased advice.
An FIR has been filed against me under cheating-related sections. The case is connected to a company situation where payments were made to vendors, and now the complainant is alleging wrongdoing.
The complication is that the company was in my mother’s name (let’s call her B), while I (let’s call myself C) was handling the operations. My mother was aware that a company existed in her name but not the day-to-day activities.
We applied for anticipatory bail. The court has given interim protection to B till the next date and asked her to join investigation. I have a separate hearing coming up.
Here are my concerns:
1. My lawyer is saying things like we may need to “manage” the IO (investigating officer), which sounds very wrong to me.
2. He is also suggesting different strategies (first filing quashing for my mother, then mine), but keeps changing his approach.
3. I’ve already paid around ₹1.7 lakh, and I’m not confident in his handling anymore.
4. The complainant seems aggressive and not open to settlement.
My questions:
– Should I consider changing my lawyer at this stage (bail proceedings ongoing)?
– Is it normal for lawyers to suggest “managing” police like this?
– How risky is my situation realistically (custody, arrest chances, etc.)?
– What should be the best legal strategy here – focus on bail first, or quashing, or settlement?
I’m extremely stressed and just want to handle this the right way without making things worse.
Any genuine advice would really help. Thank you.
