        What Happened:
On 2nd March, around 11 PM, while we were traveling back home near Thalapara, our car was hit by a bus. My father, who was seated in the back seat, sustained a head injury with fractures in C1-C4 and a spinal contusion.

        Immediate Medical Response:
An ambulance took us to a nearby hospital in Malappuram, where the doctor examined my father and referred us to Kozhikode.

By 3 AM on 3rd March, we reached Kozhikode. Due to personal convenience, I requested The doctors to transferring my father to Coimbatore Ganga Hospital via mobile ICU.

We arrived at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore by 8:30 PM on 3rd March and immediately raised an my corporate insurance claim.

        Insurance Claim Issue:
The insurance team has now requested the following documents:
        1. A letter from the treating doctor confirming no alcohol consumption.
        2. A copy of the FIR.

The only proof we have to support that my father was not under the influence of alcohol is the referral letter from the first doctor stating that he was conscious and oriented. The FIR also does not mention anything about alcohol consumption.

        Current Situation:
I’ve been contacted by multiple lawyers from Kerala offering to represent us with a vakalat.

I need some legal advice on the following:
        1. Is it safe to proceed with a lawyer from Kerala, or should I be cautious about signing a vakalat? What should I verify before appointing any lawyer?
        2. To be on the safer side, what precautions should I take before hiring a lawyer?
        3. Would it be better to arrange a lawyer from my hometown in Tamil Nadu instead of Kerala? What are the pros and cons of doing this?
        4. Our main goal is to secure fair compensation for my father’s injuries and medical expenses. Any advice on maximizing our chances of getting the compensation approved?
        5. Does his age 59 and income affect?

I would really appreciate any legal advice or guidance from those who have experience dealing with similar situations. Thank you in advance!
