UHi everyone,
I recently moved into a managed rental flat by Settl (www.thesettl.com) in Bangalore on May 1st, and I’m facing a serious issue that I believe may be a case of misrepresentation.
When I initially visited and finalized the flat, it was fully furnished and in good condition. However, when I moved in, the situation was completely different. Several essential items are either missing or not in usable condition.
Some of the issues I’m facing:
– Sofa is broken
– Bed provided is different from what was shown
– No sofa table
– No induction stove
– No kitchen utensils
– No TV or TV remote
I have been continuously following up with their customer support for the past 4 days. Every time, I’m told the issue will be resolved “today” or “tomorrow,” but no actual action has been taken. Calls often go unanswered, and there has been no concrete resolution.
I’ve already paid a deposit and signed a 3-month agreement, which makes me feel stuck in this situation. However, the condition of the flat and missing items are not what was agreed upon at the time of booking.
I would really appreciate advice on:
1. What legal options I have in this situation (consumer court, police complaint, etc.)
2. Whether this counts as misrepresentation or deficiency of service
3. If I can terminate the agreement without losing my deposit
If anyone has dealt with Settl or a similar situation before, I’d really value your guidance.
