January 23, 2025 at 7:46 pmSo to settle some disputes, I need to prove that I’m a legitimate grandson of my grandmother. For this, I need my grandparents’ marriage certificate, to prove my lineage. However, it is possible they never registered their marriage (they got married in 1957), and to make things more complicated, my grandpa passed away 20+ years ago.
Could you please tell me if:
* Is it possible to check if maybe they did register their marriage, just lost the marriage certificate? In this case, where should I check? They got married in Thane, then lived in Mumbai for rest of their lives.
* If it turns out they really didn’t register their marriage, can I still get a marriage certificate for them? -

January 23, 2025 at 7:53 pmIf the marriage is not registered, then you can try to see whether they gave the marriage certificate to the nursing home where your dad was born. Try contacting the municipality where your dad’s birth certificate is registered. They should probably have the record of your grandparents marriage. Or your dad’s school. -
