April 5, 2025 at 12:10 pmRecently bought a Easemytrip gift card worth 1500 from Magicpin to book a hotel. After applying gift card, i tried paying the remaining amount using UPI/Card. But app was not redirecting to neither UPI apps nor to card otp page. Shown some error in the pop-up.So closed app and tried to book again but Got error like “Transaction Successful” which after enquiring with EMT customer support came to know gift card has been redeemed. Their call support asked me to wait for 5 hours and said Gift card will be refreshed and amount will reflect back. Mailed them, mailed magicpin, called them frequently no use. Now I had to book hotel via different method. It’s been more than 80 hours.
Questions :
1) magicpin has t&c’s saying gift cards are not refundable, but in my case the gift card couldn’t fulfill the purpose I bought it for. So can I raise complaint with consumer forum for refund?2) what are the laws on gift card sold for commodity/services in our country? especially these kind of closed loop gift cards which can be used with only specific merchants.
