February 15, 2025 at 10:17 amI work on a sales role for a company and this is my first month that I have started working here. The company is withholding my salary since the 10th of the month, and now they are saying they will not pay me any salary as I have not achieved my target and here you have to justify the salary.
This is an extract from my offer letter and that is what they are pointing out :-“We would like to bring to your attention that it is necessary for you to substantiate your monthly compensation by meeting the companyβs expectations, specifically in terms of generating business growth. To justify your compensation, it is essential that your contributions result in a minimum of x amount in business revenue each month”
After taking multiple follow-ups and discussion the owner is telling me that the company will not pay me any amount and he will personally transfer me funds to my google pay account.
I was also informed by one of their core team members that I’ll be paid for my training time.
The owner is paying me around 1/3rd of my salary and he hasn’t still paid me.What will be the best course of action, I just want them to pay me what I’m entitled to.
I have few doubts being what if the owner tells me that he has borrowed money from me.
And is it compulsory for me to provide business to get my salary.

February 15, 2025 at 11:05 amWalk away from the company. Companies do cost benefit analysis for new employees and they won’t take any legal action or internal investigation to employees who’ve just started working. If they’re not paying you noe, they won’t pay you I future too. They will keep whining and dragging this issue further. Suppose you done meet sales target in April, they’ll bring up that you didn’t meet sales target in jan- Feb period too.
They’ll twist and turn regulations as per their wish and say that you missed meeting targets for 3 months this year and we’re letting you go.
Also if the boss is paying out of their own pocket, there’s something fishy. Never accept under the table payments unless it benefits you like for savi tax purposes or so. Amount should always be credited by company in bank account.
Pls be careful, leave asap (if you wish to), all the best.

February 15, 2025 at 2:23 pmHave you arrived to a conclusion that you would want to leave the job? If you haven’t signed any contract or non competent clause, pls leave asap.Even if you’ve signed an ncc or non disclosure agreement the company can’t do anything as you haven’t even been paid salary so they can’t say that you’re an employee yet only a trainee.
Also pls be noted that if you were to sign a contract, make sure you read the terms and conditions properly. Usually big companies make employees sign a contract with Shell companies with authorized capital not more than 1L, be careful.
Don’t accept under the table payments if unless, you requested to. Usually employees request under table comments to prevent paying tax. In every other case, there’s something fishy within the company.

February 16, 2025 at 5:48 amOkay cool. Pls keep in mind that a company which refuses to pay you once will drag the same issue over and over again
Hope you’re feeling easy after tumultuous experience at the previous company. Wishing you the very best.-
