January 22, 2025 at 10:01 amI run a small business in Ahmedabad, I gave some goods to an old customer who was a former neighbour of my friend( friend is in usa and in very less contact) he took goods worth 29,500 in September and said he’ll paytm the next day ,I trusted him( my mistake) and as of this day I have received just 6000 and that too after much request, he works high up in sachivalaya gujarat government and I don’t want to involve anyone , I know where he lives( Atishya Flats Vaishnodevi circle) and have his working contact number ( he is not picking up even from someone else’s number I have tried ).What should be the safest course of action as I can not afford to lose more money the amount may be small for some but for me it’s very huge and I am mentally drained please help .

January 22, 2025 at 10:15 amAsk for a post dated cheque.Tell him its ok to take time to pay.
Then deposit the cheque and if it bounces start a cheque bouncing case.
Amount is too small so engage any basic lawyer to send a demand notice.

January 22, 2025 at 10:29 amIt is the right thing to do, tell him it’s a medical emergency and you need the money ASAP.Going to his flat is the only thing left to do, and him not picking up calls means he might be doing this to many people as well.
Be prepared to hear some excuse like some of his relative died or etc but don’t budge and tell him you want it right now only and ask him to show you his current bank balance.

January 22, 2025 at 11:45 amWhatever you do, don’t add him to a whatsapp group with 100 respected people from society, some of which could personally know him, and post ” Mr. XYZ kindly return my money” nor should you put up a whatsapp status that “Mr. XYZ who works in such and such, despite being a government official, is not returning my money despite repeated requests and me facing a family medical emergency”.. Both the above ideas are inadequate and not advisable. -
