January 25, 2025 at 6:57 amHello everyone. As mentioned above, I had queries regarding this. I am from Arunachal Pradesh and as of late in Arunachal a pressure group has been formed here who are pressurizing of surrendering of ST status offspring of Non-APST father and APST mother. Giving up ST status here means also giving up your ancestral land.In my case, my grandfather was General category. However, he had abandoned his family to marry my grandmother and live here. He passed away i believe when my father was a teen, and my grandmother raised all her kids alone. They have never been to my grandfather’s native nor have any contact with them.
My father had obtained an ST certificate in the1980s, and all his documents have his real father’s name (some people use tribal name’s to obtain it illegally). It may also be noted that the ST status was obtained through guidelines of MHA No. 39/37/73-SCT-I dated 21 May, 1977 Annexure B and also scrutiny was done and document produced at the Jt. Secretary level from the SC & ST cell.
We have been living here for ages now with my father about to reach his 60 and I am at my 30s. Everything we have is here and nothing outside of Arunachal. This matter has been brought in many times and it has taken a mental toll on my father for he had to clarify throughout his life.
If we followed the guidelines are we in the wrong? The society back then had accepted my father, however society is dynamic. Are we secure?
