Old lapsed insurance scam

Hi,
I want to bring one instance of fraud and deceit happened to me.Last year in June 2024, I received a call from broker of Merabima Insurance brokers Pvt Ltd.I didn’t doubt it as it looked genuine (with no spam reports).He called me and mentioned I had a lapsed insurance policy which was issued 2015.He mentioned that if i buy 2 new insurance policies(totalling Rs 4 lakhs) he will he will link these policies with the lapsed one and will be settled in 6 months.He also tricked me saying not to mention about the insurance settlement and link of lapsed policy when i receive a verification call.
I was repeatedly in touch with the broker since in whatsapp he assured me that i will get settlement call in some weeks.I have kept the message of the fake lapsed policy which he sent as proof and also the whatsapp chat conversation with him since beginning where i ask several times about settling the two policies for which he says i will receive the settlement initiation soon.
He suddenly disappears after 2-3 months and no longer reachable via phone or whatsapp.After going through the web, i found out that several people were cheated into buying new
olcies under false pretext.I also found people reporting the same person in X(formerly twitter) for insurance fraud.
I went to the insurance provider office this month with this data (message and whatsapp conversation), they no longer seem to be interested in investigating this.They are mentioning that as I got verification call from them, they can’t do anything about this.They have mentioned escalation ladder (3 more levels within the insurance company) after which i can proceed with ombudsman complaint.

There are numerous reports of fraud against the company which one can see.

I also found a couple of tweets from an account in X which highlight fraud from the same company and by the same agent who cheated me.

I want to know if anyone has faced this scam before or any suggestions on how to recover this.I wonder and feel sad about how poor people who are trapped via phone and succumb to fraud without any material proof deal with this.
