HI left my rented accomodation in delhi on 20th December 2024, informed the owner on 4th December that i will vacate in January. I have all the proof of rent that i paid, along with security. He is not responding to my texts, over call he says – i will return money after ‘paint’ is done. Its been 4 months now, he is not budging. I had a heated exchange wherein he said – if you’ll tell me about rules I won’t even give back any money.
Its not about the money, but why are these people not afraid of law or legal action

SThat money is gone. Unless you are willing to pay a lawyer to take him to court, and fight legally , nothing will be done.
Any deposit to a landlord is free money.-
HYeah, i dont think its worth bickering constantly over call with that man. Cant hire a lawyer either. So, i think its a gone case. Thankyou

NIf the amount if significant then try sending a legal notice. Fear of the case going to court usually makes people want to settle.

HIts not a significant amount, but the sheer disregard for the laws/rules and dishonesty is making me go mad. But i dont think its worth the legal proceedings and investing the mental bandwidth(plus i am broke haha). Gave rent and everything on time but well life is not fair plus he is extremely arrogant.
