March 17, 2025 at 1:39 pmHey everyone,I applied for a passport, and my **Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) verification was completed on 6th November 2024**, but my application status has been stuck at **”Pending for physical police verification at xxxxx Police Station, Kolkata”** ever since.
After multiple follow-ups, I was made to run around unnecessarily by Officer **Mr. Shambhu**, who kept delaying the process— calling me multiple times , but he never came and gave a later date.
Finally, on **22nd January 2025**, my police verification was done, but only after I was forced to **pay a ₹600 bribe**. Even after that, my application is still stuck, and now Mr. Shambhu is ignoring my messages and calls. The last time I spoke to him, he just told me **not to contact him before 22nd March**, which feels like another excuse to delay things further.
I had already sent an email to higher authorities on **22nd February**, but there has been no response or update. I really need my passport soon, and this unnecessary delay is causing me a lot of problems.
Can I **file an RTI** to get information on why my verification is still stuck and who is responsible for the delay? Or is there any other way to escalate this and get it processed faster?
Would really appreciate any advice from those who have dealt with similar issues.

March 17, 2025 at 1:49 pmRTI is a long process. Instead of that… Just file your complaint in the pgportal .com website. They will definitely take action and expedite the process. -

March 19, 2025 at 5:50 amYes, you can [file an RTI](https://rtiwala.com/content/how-to-file-an-rti-online/) to seek reasons for the delay in police verification and identify the officials responsible. You may also escalate the issue by filing a grievance on the Passport Seva portal or reaching out to senior police officers. If bribery was involved, consider reporting it to the vigilance department for further action. -

April 21, 2025 at 7:17 pmHey hi, mine too was stuck but it eventually appeared i guess around 6 months later. I built a rapport with the cop and yes, he didn’t expect a bribe. But he assured that it shall come. Mine was delayed due to an address of my newly leased rented apartment. I almost gave up, and it turned up when I actually just didn’t care anymore. But it did come up tho. U can try emailing the authorities, they are responsive.-

April 21, 2025 at 7:53 pmThey’re full of shit man, mine got rejected, even though I paid the bribe.Funny thing is they asked me to vist RPO within 30 days of the letter (4/4/25).
The letter reached me on (14/4/25)
The earliest appointment i could get (19/5/25)
And now they’re again not responding to emails / grievances feedback / even complain on pgportal. I’m loosing every hope now. The letter mentions that if i don’t visit within 30 days my file will be closed

April 21, 2025 at 9:00 pmRPO.. just visit once without appointment and work your way through. Build a rapport kind sir. I know it’s tough to swallow the frustration but you gotta do what you gotta do. Plus i think the receipt of the letter counts. Don’t worry just try talking to the menial staff with kindness and respect. It will work out.
