January 15, 2025 at 10:23 amToday, a loan recovery agent from DMI Finance visited my house without prior notice. Upon questioning, he stated that his ID card had expired in December and failed to provide valid identification. The property belongs to my father-in-law, a paramilitary personnel, who was understandably disturbed by this intrusion. The agent made baseless and intimidating claims, including threats of penalties and loan cancellation if dues were not cleared immediately. This unannounced visit has caused significant mental distress to my family, especially since I have already reached out to DMI Finance multiple times regarding an EMI extension due to a medical emergency but received no proper response. I believe this behavior amounts to trespassing, harassment, and intimidation under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Sections like 302 (Trespass), 354 (Harassment), 355 (Intimidation), and 286 (Failure to Provide Identification) seem applicable here. I would like to know if this action is legally justified and what steps I can take to protect my family from further harassment while addressing this issue. -
