UI applied for an EWS certificate for JEE but it was rejected by the Tehsildar.
My family qualifies under the 8 LPA income limit, and we have been living on rent in a different city for the past 15 years.
The reason given for rejection was that my grandfather owns 10 cents of land. The Tehsildar said that in a future partition between my father and his brother, my father would be entitled to 5 cents. Based on that assumption, he declared us ineligible since the limit is 4 cents.
My question is: can eligibility be denied based on a future hypothetical share that has not yet been partitioned or transferred?
Am I actually ineligible under the rules?
