April 20, 2025 at 11:50 amMy father is an OBC and I want to have a OBC certificate, but my father works in a private firm (Tata Motors) and earns 10LPA, which is over 8LPA (upper limit for OBC NCL).But in many websites, it’s written that Salary and Agricultural Income should not be taken into account when calculating the upper limit for Non Government employees.
What does that mean? Am I eligible because my father earns 0 from non Salaried income? Or what does it mean to say?
I have tried to read the said Law and it is very confusing, it says 3 years consecutive income must be less than 8LPA, but in Clause 6, it says the same, “Salary or Agricultural Income should not be clubbed together when calculating the final income”.
Can someone please explain in detail what the clause is about? There is no clear answer anywhere on the internet and mostly it’s about Governmental Positions and other criteria.

OP
April 30, 2025 at 7:52 amMy home conditions are not great, much of the money goes to the treatment and medicines of my dadi and dada, my mom’s knee surgery and my college (though I get a scholarship).10LPA without a social security net is nothing in India. We don’t have a government hospital near us, and we go to a private hospital.
An OBC certificate would help a lot.
