My parents are separated, not divorced yet.
I’m living with my mother, we live in a house owned by her father.
My father lives in a house jointly owned by my mom and him, but it was bought with his inheritance money.
Couple things that might happen in near future:
1. Selling the jointly owned house, he says he can’t pay EMI anymore. Mom is thinking of offering to pay for the time until a proper buyer can be found
2. Current house we’re living in might get transferred to my mom from my grandfather’s name
Does my father gain anything by divorcing my mom? Mom is not in a hurry to do any of these things. Are there any things to watch out in all of these things? If my dad is genuinely struggling, do I have any legal liability?
Want to know rights of both sides. There’s no lawyers involved at the moment, but they’re might be if any one side feels exploited
I’m just confused in general, apologies if this seems vague, please feel free to ask follow ups if needed to better answer these questions
