Hello everyone, I’m new to this sub, so please bear with me. I’m looking for some advice on how to handle a frustrating situation with Realme’s service center.

My friend took his Realme GT2 to the service center on January 2, 2025, because the device wouldn’t turn on. It had a battery issue and only showed a charging symbol. After waiting for an hour, they said they’d order a new battery, which would take a week. However, the delay extended to two weeks.

On January 15, they informed us that after replacing the battery, the touch screen wasn’t working. They asked if we wanted to leave it as is or proceed with the battery replacement. We clarified that the touch screen was working perfectly before the device stopped turning on, and it’s their responsibility since they handled the device. They claimed they couldn’t test the touch screen earlier because the device was powered off, which is hard to believe since service centers should have tools to power devices without a battery.

He filed a complaint with Realme Customer Care. Initially, they said the battery and USB holder were ordered and promised repairs by February 15. However, they closed his complaint prematurely. When he called the service center, they told him to collect the device without even repairing the device. He requested to reopen the complaint, but they insisted he pays for the display, which he refused since it wasn’t his fault.

On February 21, they closed his complaint again, stating it had been a month, and opened a new one. They offered a 40% depreciation amount, which he agreed to, but they deducted the battery price, service charge, and display charge, leaving only ₹1500. He was fine with the battery and service charges, but not the display charge, as it wasn’t his fault. My friend refused to accept this.

Now, he is unsure what to do next. Should he collect the device and let it go, or file another complaint? Any advice would be appreciated.

File a consumer complaint against both realme and the particular service center.
