LFor the last 3 years, I live in a rented house in Goa which is also my place of business. I applied for renewal of my passport, which expired in 2021, in beginning of April this year. My permanent address (parents’ residence) used to be Delhi but has recently been changed to Bangalore and so I applied for the renewal from Goa itself.
After submitting my documents at the PSK, I got a call from the local police for verification stating I need to visit the station with a list of documents, one of which is an NOC from my current landlord. My landlord refused to give this NOC and so in my naivete I told the police guy to reject my application so that I may apply again, this time from Bangalore. But now, after 2 weeks, I have received this notice from the RPO stating that I “need to provide a suitable explanation regarding the circumstances under which I have suppressed the material information in my application”. In case of non response or unsatisfactory response, I will be denied a passport against this or any future applications unless cleared by appeal in a court.
I am livid! I am stressed! I have not suppressed any information, not lied, not done anything wrong! Can a lawyer please help me out on how to go about dealing with this situation? Just because of the paranoia and / or hubris of someone else, I do not wish to impede my future prospects!!
