May 6, 2026 at 8:52 amSo I (F22) had booked tickets via budget ticket.in as it showed on Skyscanner that it was the cheapest. The tickets got cancelled one way, the amount of 25k needs to be refunded by them. For the last one month we have been sending them mails, trying to call them but it just takes us to an automated email and voice call respectively.
They said to check with the bank but haven’t sent us the refund initiation number, which the bank is asking for. I have never faced this problem in my life and this is the first time. I have no idea about how to proceed with this legally. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

May 6, 2026 at 9:19 amhi advocate this side,Send a legal notice demanding refund and refund reference number. Keep all booking emails and cancellation proof ready. Also raise dispute with your bank in writing. If they still do not respond, file complaint under Consumer Protection Act, 2019. You can also file cyber complaint if needed. Act quickly and keep all records safe. feel free to message me if you need help

May 6, 2026 at 9:41 amThank you so much. The usual norm with taking cases to court in india is that they dont get resolved soon and might take years. Am I right? Or is it different in terms of consumer court?-

May 6, 2026 at 10:22 amSending a legal notice is the first step in initiating legal action. It formally informs the opposite party of the grievance and provides them an opportunity to resolve the matter outside court. Typically, a period of 15 days is given for response or settlement. If the issue remains unresolved within this time, a case can be filed before the appropriate court. In many cases, companies prefer to settle after receiving a legal notice to avoid litigation, especially where liability is clear.

May 6, 2026 at 5:17 pmthis kind of situation becomes really stressful once communication drops because you stop knowing whether the refund is delayed or if you are just being ignored completely the part that usually matters here is whether there is any actual proof that the refund was initiated because without a reference number it becomes impossible to track from the bank side and companies sometimes keep pushing responsibility around because of that also one month with only automated responses is already a pretty long gap have they ever sent you any written confirmation saying the refund was processed on a specific date or have they only vaguely told you to check with the bank without details
