March 26, 2025 at 11:35 amI am From Gujarat,Facts :
– My daughter is denied admission to standard – 1, by a private school, which is located in close proximity to our residence
– School has denied to give any reason for denying the admission
– School has not made the criteria for admission publicly available, we as parents have absolutely no idea on what basis admission is given
– My daughter studied the pre-primary, (Nursery, LKG, HKG) in same school, she has been provided transfer certificate, she has scored decent in their internal evaluation.
– My daughter / and we ( parents ) had to go basic oral interview at the time of Admission to Nursery
– We requested the management of school (In written) to reconsider their decision, or atleast give us explanation of why the admission is denied, however, we have received no response. This seem like violation of Clause 13 Of RTE act, and guidelines set by MHRD : Which states following for the unaided schools
>in respect of unaided schools and specified category schools, and for all the seats in the aided schools, each school should formulate a policy under which admissions are to take place. This policy should include criteria for categorization of applicants in terms of the objectives of the school on a rational reasonable and just basis. There shall be no profiling of the child based on parental educational qualifications. The policy should be placed by the school in the public domain, given wide publicity and explicitly seated in the school prospectus. There shall be no testing and interviews for any child/parent falling within or outside the categories, and selection would be on a random basis. Admission should be made strictly on the basis.

I am still hopeful for a positive reply from school, but if not, i am thinking of registering grievance with District education officer (DEO) and state director of education.
What are my options?
Any advice on how should I proceed ?
