April 20, 2025 at 7:15 amHi,I am trying to get married to gf, we are together from last 8 years but my father is against it due to cast differences.
He is threatening me that he will get me legally implicated or file false accusations and he will get me fired from my job if I do this.
He is not very influential but very cunning.
Is there anyway I can safeguard my job?

April 20, 2025 at 7:30 amI know that can be done but problem is I have one 7 years younger brother who might need me later in life when my uncle’s kid may try to get ownership of whatever land we have in our hometown. Both of them are older than us.

April 20, 2025 at 7:43 amYes, I have actually, I don’t want their money or land.I am building my own legacy but I don’t to get in a situation where my family members or say uncle’s and brothers or even my father get legal power to push me out of my own home later.

April 21, 2025 at 2:26 amMight not always be that easy. Also, that is not a choice someone should have to make. When we say this, we start going in the victim blaming territory.

April 20, 2025 at 7:22 amYou have really different prioritiesFirst, go to HR and tell them the truth, so you are safeguarded.
Second is to leave your parents, and get married and build your life.
But knowing you, you won’t do either.

April 20, 2025 at 9:41 amIf you are attempting to convince and change your father’s ideology via tips from reddit…Show him your d**k pic and tell him its bigger than his, has no caste barrier so he can mind his life now.
Bonus: suggest him some erectile dysfunction clinics

April 20, 2025 at 9:03 amBro just stop talking to them. Stop visiting to them. Why are you asking dumb question? How can you go legally about it? Itβs not America-

OP
April 20, 2025 at 9:17 amYou can legally get separated from our parents, there is a process for that.I was asking wether that what the other guy meant.
You need to calm down.
If he is threatening to legally implicate with false accusations then I can safeguard myself from that, i just want to know how.
There is nothing american about this.
He knows where I live, where I work, I don’t want to run and hide from him which might infuriate him further causing more harm.

April 20, 2025 at 9:26 amYou are an adult, and so as legally separated as you can be under Indian laws.If you are in a private company in some city and your father is physically elsewhere, it is highly unlikely he can do anything at all to affect your job.
But he can file random cases etc against you perhaps, forcing you to come to the police station and waste your time. But this is difficult.
if you can cut off all communication and contact for a while, that might help. Every conversation and contact with you will give him new ideas.

April 20, 2025 at 10:00 amThere are a lot of ways to go about this. Just tell him you donβt want him in your life anymore, make sure to do this on his face and go cold turkey on it.

April 20, 2025 at 10:52 amhe is just bulfing , if you feel you need to do something , make sure your HR knows , the Police station knows and your parents know about the two things , your dad can’t do much , but since he is your father and he loves you in his own toxic way its your duty to keep the door open , he should eventually understand ….dont cut them out he will only spiral and suffer-
