April 29, 2026 at 11:22 amHi everyone,I came across something odd and wanted to get advice before taking any action.
I was browsing a temporary email inbox and noticed an email request that appeared to be about prenatal gender testing. The request seemed to be coming from Mysore (India) and was directed to a lab in the UK.
As far as I understand, determining or disclosing a baby’s sex is illegal in India under the PCPNDT Act. This made me wonder if this could be someone trying to bypass the law by contacting a foreign lab.
I don’t know the full context, and I might be misinterpreting what I saw, so I don’t want to make accusations. But it did feel concerning.
My questions:
– Is this something that actually happens (using foreign labs for gender testing)?
– Would this be considered illegal from the India side?
– Is there any point in reporting something like this, especially if the lab is overseas?
– If reporting is appropriate, where should it be done?
I don’t have personal involvement—just happened to see it and wasn’t sure what the right thing to do is.
Appreciate any guidance.
