Settlement and relieving letter withheld! – Need advice

Hi all,

My wife left her company and the last working day was on 27th Feb 2026. It has been more than 2 months and yet they didn’t provide any information or provide the settlement and relieving letter.

Today (May 5th, 2026) after repeated followups via call and text, HR responded in WhatsApp as “Settlement and relieving letter cannot be provided because of management decisions”. My wife and i are vexed about it and she is on the verge of depression.

This company is located in Chennai. Kindly help us on this guys with any legal advice or suggestions.
