Recently came across a video of a guy getting sexual assaulted by a woman who sits on his lap without permission when he refuses to give his seats to her in metro. Does this come under sexual assault? Also people in comments pointed out that SA is only for females in India and there are no rules for sexual assault of a woman assaulting a man. Is it true??

That’s true sexual assault in India is legally only covers female victims. However other laws can be used

I think in practice it’s for girls only,the court was shocked to hear such a case,they mentioned it was their first time dealing with such case

Still no,the definition of rape includes Penetration which women can’t biologically.its not just India but everywhere in world.for that to happen,legal definition of rape has to change to be gender neutral

I’m a guy and I don’t understand how men can be sexually assaulted. I understand when it comes to prepubescent boys and even teenagers to some extent (cuz I’ve seen a lot of horny mofos when I was a teenager) but I don’t understand it when it comes to adult men.

Can someone explain?

Sexual assault isn’t limited to penetration. Someone grabbing a man’s crotch area is a sexual assault too.

Ok, this I understand and accept. Very unpleasant when done roughly.

But, what if it was caressed softly?

Guy can just push her away in both cases or slap her or whatever. Manhandle her basically. Even if I accept the first case scenario, it still feels not that serious when u compare it to a girl being assaulted.

Sexual assault is not about how violent it is. It’s about violation of one’s autonomy and ignorance of consent. Are you insinuating that rape is ok if the victim didn’t get hurt?

In context of SA, it’s taken into consideration how the victim felt about the whole ordeal. This is why it gets complicated. What you described is still sexual assault, irrespective of it’s intensity.

I think if you do any of these then the woman would just put SA or harassment case on you and whether you are right or wrong and whether you are eventually proven right you’ll be facing tons of issues that can make your life hell
