January 27, 2025 at 5:27 pm**Don’t know if this post is suited for the sub or not.**Earlier in our area, someone shifted the supply poles from the middle of their land to the corner (as shown in the leftmost pole diagram). Iβve marked the old wire line with —-. Now, our neighbor also wants to shift the poles to the end of their land along the highway. The last two poles are on our land, forming a straight line perpendicular to the road.
They are saying it wonβt be possible without our cooperation (but I know that even if we donβt shift our pole, which is already on our land away from the highway, the second pole near the highway is in the right place). We can’t refuse outright because we live in a village and are expected to cooperate.
The issue is the total cost. The electricity department has quoted around **βΉ3.5 lakhs** for the shift. They say we will get an official receipt from the government. Since the poles are on the land of three families (including ours), our share of the cost would be around **βΉ1.2 lakhs**.
I want to understand the process for this:
1. Can they charge this much?
2. Is it true that the electricity department installs new poles when shifting old ones?**Other info:**
* **State**: Uk
* Why shift – We currently have no problem with the poles being on our land since the area is used for farming. However, some neighbors have built buildings nearby, so they are the ones who want this shift.
* The poles donβt supply electricity to the village (not sure), but I think they are primarily for factories using high-voltage lines.
