April 6, 2025 at 12:56 pmI have previously posted on this sub, it has all the details in it. So, i am gonna just keep it short, my parents bought a lenovo laptop, on 31st march 2025, it was damaged and the system is getting worse over time, store didn’t told it was a clearance and display product and didn’t provided any discount for such even though they do provide it on other products of their, no warranty till now. After contacting reliance digital customer care they told Store Manager is the only who can do something about it, I want to return it. I tried social media and sent mails, but eventually they stopped responding. So, I have exhausted my options, my parents are considering to hire a lawyer. As I am a student my parents have more say than me, they refused to send an legal notice made by me. Now, can someone please tell me what to do? And as I belong to a middle class family, and I don’t have any experience in this, do these cases do get ‘dates on dates’ scene where I have to go there back and forth for numerous times and spend a ton of money to win or any network of mine with someone influential?BTW I am an adult.

April 6, 2025 at 1:15 pmHi. Iβm a Delhi based lawyer. Itβs not the case that consumer courts are bad. But since every legal proceeding follows a certain process, adjudication takes some time. Between filing of complaint, written statement, rejoinder, evidence of both parties, written arguments and oral arguments, you can expect about 10-12 hearings to take place. Try sending a legal notice before that, for it might help. -

April 6, 2025 at 2:50 pmConsumer cases typically take anywhere between 1 to 2 years to reach a final decision. However, this timeline may be extended if the opposing party, such as the company, chooses to file an appeal against the order. That being said, itβs important to note that consumer courts are generally inclined to uphold the rights of consumers, provided there is sufficient evidence and due procedure has been followed. While the process may require some patience, most consumers do receive favorable outcomes.
