My rent is 12k
The gst is 12% ?Since my rent is below 20 k I don’t need to pay gst to the owner right?

February 6, 2025 at 2:08 amCheck up on gst rules and if you’re sure about it then file a complaint. There are many people that use gst as an excuse to get more money from ignorant customers-

February 6, 2025 at 2:43 amGST on rental is applicable if you are renting for commercial purposes. I don’t think there should be any GST. You are probably being conned.-

February 6, 2025 at 10:01 amSee my reply above:GST is applicable for paying guest services. So you will need to verify if this accomodation is being treated as a PG or a hostel. The GST rate is 12% for PGs and Hostels. The GST for commercial rentals is 18%.

February 6, 2025 at 3:28 amCheck his GST details from his GST NO. on GST website.Does his GST say that renting of commercial space is included in the list of services.
Also check whether he is giving you commercial electricity and commercial water alongwith a rental agreement.

February 6, 2025 at 4:06 amBrother – I donβt where you got the 20k threshold number. That number is for actual renters. This is different since you are taking a PG and not an actual rental. PG has property management and they are offering a service and hence GST

February 6, 2025 at 6:57 amHere’s my experience with GST invoices. We had to do some 3D printing for office work, I found a guy, he completed the work and it came to payment he gave me a GST invoice.
I simply asked him for the GST number, registration details as well as PAN and Cancelled check and told him my finance guy will process the payment after confirming all the details.
He gave me a Non GST invoice.
See thing is you can’t just give GST invoice, you have to file the return as well.
