February 17, 2025 at 1:39 amMy lawyer is suddenly asking for 1lakh after the case is won, without any prior discussion.
It took him 7 years to get me a most basic outcome and also had me make a bad decision which lost me a lot of money. I don’t feel like paying him at all.
I have already payed him 1lakh which was agreed upon while picking up the case, 7 years ago
I have already gotten my court order is their anything else that I will be needing from lawyer.
I really don’t want to pay him and have got no money right now too. -

February 17, 2025 at 2:38 amNo. In fact asking for fees depending on outcome of the case itself is illegal. If the agreement was 1 lakh lump sum payment and youβve done that. Thatβs about it. You donβt need to give anything else.If he pesters you just tell him you will file a complaint with the Bar Council.

February 17, 2025 at 5:00 amComplain to the Bar Council. This is not legal.Under law an advocate can hold on to papers if dues are not cleared. But since you only had an arrangement of 1 lakh lump sum he cannot legally hold on to papers.
Please make a complaint.

February 17, 2025 at 5:26 amIf you don’t want to pay over your contract you don t have to as the case is now closed your advocate may be referring to not giving you your case file which you will require if the opposite party’ goes for appeal in the higher court (this case file you get from court clerks on your own if you need it)-
