Someone stole my phone. What should I do?

Yesterday when I was returning back to my Pg from my office someone stole my phone from the auto rickshaw I was traveling from.
Filed an e-FIR, registered a complaint to block the IMEI, and made a complaint on the Samsung website (the phone was from Samsung).

If it’s an android phone, police can’t track it using IMEI until it’s switched on. And the thief will wipe out the OS before doing that.

If it’s an iphone, there’s a chance you might get it back in 3-5 days. But only if the police looks into it.

Speaking from my experience talking to a police inspector in Mumbai.

You can get a duplicate sim. FIR will be needed.
