April 25, 2026 at 6:14 amHey everyone, I need advice on how to deal with SpiceJetβs absolute lack of accountability.19-04-2026, I was on SG128 from Leh to Delhi.
Scheduled: 6:45 AM
Actual Takeoff: ~2:00 PM
Total Delay: 7+ Hours.
The airline staff at Delhi airport issued me an official Delay Certificate admitting that the delay was due to “Operational Reasons” (not weather, not ATC).
The Experience:
Leh is a high-altitude airport with limited facilities. We were stuck for 8 hours with zero refreshments provided by SpiceJet. Just one small shop with overpriced food that too ran out of stock in no time due to the number of stranded passengers.
As a professional, I lost an entire day of productivity, missed my next flight to Hyderabad (not spicejet), Missed critical meetings, and suffered immense mental agony.
The “Insult” of a Resolution:
I filed a complaint via AirSewa and the Nodal Officer. Their “final” resolution? A βΉ500 discount coupon. I pay thousands for a flight, lose a day of work/income due to their admitted mismanagement, and they think a 500-buck voucher (which forces me to fly with them again!) is a fair settlement.
Update: I got a call from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) today because SpiceJet tried to mark my grievance as “Resolved” after giving the coupon. I told the Ministry I am NOT satisfied. The Ministry advised me to take this public while they reopen the case.
My Question:
Has anyone successfully fought for a proper refund/compensation for “Opportunity Cost”? Iβm sticking to my demand for 3x the airfare given the professional loss. Is E-Daakhil (Consumer Court) my only hope now?
I have already emailed them multiple times, looped in Nodal officer, appelate authority, airsewa, ceo of spicejet also π€‘. No reply at all. Only reply I got was of 500 voucher that too after i raised complaint on airsewa and not for my original emails.
I have also filed this on NCH but no movement there either.
They can’t keep getting away with this. I know atleast 15-20 people who missed their next flights from Delhi because of this delay and had to book overpriced flights same day. How come there’s no action on such lack of accountability? How come they keep putting this under the rug and face no consequences.
This wasn’t my first bad experience with spicejet, there have been multiple bad experiences, but this time. I’m not letting them go. No matter how many days it takes. I need my fair compensation for the kind of mental agony and financial loss i suffered.
Please advise what best steps I can take next.
