January 20, 2025 at 5:32 pmHi everyone,I recently registered a domain called [SwiggyMoney.com](swiggymoney.com) and created a simple welcome page on it as a fun side project. The page didn’t have any commercial content, and I wasn’t using it for anything that could compete with Swiggy or mislead users.
However, I just discovered that Swiggy has taken action against the domain, claiming it infringes on their trademark. As a result, the domain has been taken down without any prior notice or warning.
I genuinely didn’t intend to violate any trademarks or create any conflicts, and now I’m unsure what to do next. Has anyone faced a similar situation before? Can I reach out to Swiggy to resolve this, or is there another process to handle such issues?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance 🙏

January 20, 2025 at 6:29 pmIt is happening second time . First time when Swiggy’s legal team takes down my domain i was able to unsuspend that by providing my identity details. Not sure that will work this time.I can transfer it but i’m sure Swiggy’s legal team will let it down. They are powerful than a individual. 🙂

January 20, 2025 at 8:17 pmWell, he is surely using the logo and it honestly feels very legit, would have fooled a web dev like me into thinking that this is actually a swiggy thing-

January 21, 2025 at 3:05 amHe forgot to use the actual brand colors but other than that. It’s complete impersonation. Seems op is young and doesn’t know about these rules-

January 21, 2025 at 4:23 amI was using actual colors but removed all the content later after suspension of domain and got to know that we this is against the rules. This time this was suspended just because of the domain name which includes “swiggy” in it.

January 20, 2025 at 10:28 pmLawyer here. What you’re doing is illegal. Swiggy is a registered trademark and by even acquiring that domain, you’re infringing on their intellectual property. Domain related trademark disputes are resolved by UDRP which is an impartial international system, and they routinely strike down domains like yours for impersonation and infringement.
You have recourse in law, national as well as international.

OP
January 21, 2025 at 4:46 amThank you for your explanation. Now I understand that trademarks protect brands from misuse or confusion. However, I’m curious—does this mean Swiggy has the right to take down any domain starting with “Swiggy,” regardless of its intent or use?For example, if someone registered “SwiggyPets.com” for a blog about pet care or “SwiggyCrafts.com” for a hobby site, and there’s no commercial intent or overlap with Swiggy’s business, would those domains also be considered infringement?
I respect Swiggy’s rights, but isn’t there a line where legitimate, unrelated uses should be allowed? I’d love to hear your thoughts on how trademark law handles these kinds of gray areas.

January 21, 2025 at 5:12 amCorrect. Anything and everything that has Swiggy in it, is considered off limits. Not just in domains but everywhere.
