I ordered an Amazon basics fridge two years ago when their customer service was excellent. They discontinued the product now and have no customer service. My fridge’s compressor broke down and I registered a warranty request since the compressor’s warranty is 5 years. They cancelled the request and asked me to repair the product on my own to reimburse later.

After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to raise a return request. Unfortunately, I missed picking up the call of delivery person. I asked them to reschedule it and they’ve been steadfast in doing so. They’re now providing a solution to reimburse the value of compressor with Amazon gift card after complaining through National consumer portal online.

Compressor value is not even 20% of the product’s original price and there is no readymade like to like replacement as far as I enquired. And even if I do so, the replacement compressor might not last and is out of warranty as well.

Given the scenario, Can I take Amazon to consumer court and win the case? I’m thinking of edhaakil portal to get started with. What would you guys recommend?

You should send a legal notice and proceed to file the Consumer Complaint.

NAL. If you do not want spend 2 years in courts try to settle after sending a lawyer notice. You will get justice if you take them to the courts but it will be delayed. Saying this as a person who took a big brand to consumer court.

You can take legal it’s totally upto to you with your complain with National consumer helpline Amazon is trying to negotiate.I would suggest to negotiate harder also arrange return pickup again and get that fridge disposed make sure to make complete video and photos of the existing conditions of the fridge as they might use used condition issue to dent refund and ask them for a discount or coupon on the new fridge and get some compensation for the hassle.

The result I described in the post is after the complaint in National Consumer helpline. I feel hard done by Amazon’s practices and I’m going to try my hand once more in the eDhaakil portal.

Write an email to amit@amazon(dot)com and andy@amazon(dot)com

They tried to play this with me in October when my in-warranty Amazon Basics TV stopped working, again a discontinued product. After several back and forth, I wrote an email to their leadership and got a full refund!

I wrote the same email and got to arrange the return pickup. Since I missed it the first time, I’ve been getting no responses from the same emails.

Their pickup team marked the first attempt as โ€œCustomer not availableโ€ even though they never called, never came. I blasted another email to those to leaders and it was picked up the next day without issues.

Lawyer here. I have several cases against e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, and thereโ€™s a good chance of winning. Send a legal notice first, it might lead to a settlement.
