April 28, 2025 at 6:17 pmHi everyone,
I’m in a difficult situation and hoping someone with knowledge of Indian labour laws or similar experiences can offer some guidance.
I recently joined a company in Mumbai and unfortunately fractured my leg after 15 days of joining. I immediately informed my employer and provided a doctor’s note advising four weeks of rest.
Ten days after informing them of my injury, I received a termination letter, stating my employment was being ended. I am still within my probation period.
I’m quite concerned about this as I am still recovering and unable to work. I’m unsure about my rights in this situation, especially being on probation.
Has anyone experienced something similar in India? What are my options? Should I be looking into labour laws or is there anything else I should consider?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

April 29, 2025 at 3:33 amAnd what does your employment contract say in this regard? Is the dismissal during probation in line with the contract? What about notice period and compensation?-

April 29, 2025 at 3:46 amWith respect to injury it doesn’t mentioned anything. On probation they can remove me by giving 7 days notice period.
