I was member of a gym and joined it in Oct last year. The gym is in sports complex and I paid to a guy who was a manager of that gym. Now, this gym is closed from mid of January – 25 till date due to some renovation going on. I visited this gym today and the sports complex member told that the gym manager is gone and has taken everyone’s money. He hasn’t paid any rent or salaries to the staff. The sports complex is telling me to ask refund from that manager only and the sports complex is building a new gym from the scratch. I fear that all the money I paid for my 1 year membership is gone to gutter as the new gym will ask for new price.

I called few other members of the gym to check if they know something but hilariously, they don’t care about their own money and are waiting for the new gym to open. I’m really pissed at the mindset of how can you allow anyone to take your money!!!

Please suggest what I can do?

If you have retained the receipt of payment, you can file a complaint before the district consumer forum.

Check out your district consumer forum, you should be able to get the format of a complaint and some guidance from the staff.
Relatively simple process compared to courts.
